A school for India is conducting the 3rd International Cycle Race on East Coast Road, Chennai, India. ICR on ECR.
The event is supported by the Cycling Federation of India. The event is open for everyone across the world and the objective is to promote the cause of education in rural India. The event is coordinated by Venkatesh Chanderasekaran and Harish Shankaran.
Already, SchoolsForIndia conducted International Cycle Race two times in the year 2007 and 2008.
There are different race categories:
- Amateur Men: 140 KM
- Amateur Women: 70 KM
- MTB Men: 70 KM
- MTB Women: 35 KM
- Corporate General: 6 KM
- College Men: 12 KM
- College Women:6 KM
- Schools Boys/Girls:5KM ( 9th & 10th Standard)
- Veteran ( above 45) : Men 35 KM and Women 12KM
The Race wills start from Raga Dental College it is Near Uthandi Toll Gate, ECR, and Chennai. The reporting time is 5 AM on 30th Jan 2011.
The race route is from Toll gate ECR to Mahabalipuram Junction-totally two trips. The instruction kit is to be collected from the venue on Saturday evening from 4 PM onwards. The detailed route map will be sent with details like U turn, water points etc on Saturday Morning. Water, Breakfast and Lunch will be provided at the venue for all the participants.
